2025 SMB IT Trends Report: Top IT Priorities and Challenges

The start of a new year is a good time to look at risks and opportunities facing your organization. This year, you can also learn what your colleagues around the country are tackling.

In late 2024, we surveyed more than 200 small and medium businesses (SMBs) in various industries for their insights and progress reports on common IT issues. The result is ISOutsource’s first annual IT Trends report. Topics range from top IT pain points and strategic investments SMBs are making to their progress on adopting cloud and AI technologies.

Remote/hybrid work and cybersecurity: How does your business stack up?

For example, when it comes to navigating the challenges of a remote or hybrid workforces, our respondents listed their top IT challenges:

41% said managing devices
40% said security concerns
41% said connectivity issues
39% said collaboration challenges

It’s no surprise that cybersecurity is also a hot topic in our report, considering that 46% of all cyber breaches affect business with fewer than 1,000 employees. We found that 12% of SMBs had low confidence, 22% had moderate confidence, and 66% high confidence in their cybersecurity measures.
